Every father's responsibility

This is great. My friend Spencer sent this link to me. Its about a father who found his daughter with a naked boy in her room. Apparently the boy has been sneaking in there with his daughter for the last year.

The man was so caught off guard that he "whacked" the kid with a metal pipe! Oh man, that is awesome. Unfortunately the man was charged with aggravated battery on the kid and put in jail with a bond of $10,000. Ouch.

So lets be honest, did the act justify the consequences. In my opinion.... YES! The only thing I want to know is where did the guy hit the naked boy..... oooohhh!

Sorry I've been reading the 2009 Farmer's almanac for the last 4 months

I'm alive!!!! Sorry I took a hiatus this summer to fish and improve my relations with British parliament... and yes, the fishing was fantastic. Buy hey, I'm back, and lets be honest since I left your life has not been the same. When I last left you, a poll stated that the meager followers that did read my blog wanted to hear about the olympics. Well here it goes: The 12 year old chinese girls beat us good.

I do however want to talk about a article that came out today about the new 2009 Farmer's almanac - probably the greatest source of knowledge for retirees. An article located here talks about the Almanac predicting Global cooling for the next half century. So wait, the earth is cooling? Global warming enthusiasts - "Oh thats just a sign of global warming." Wait, so now global warming is global cooling.... I'm confused. Ok, so let me try to figure this out... by getting cooler, we are getting warmer.... hmmm....
Joking aside, do we need to be concerned about our planet? I believe we do, heck, we are stewards of it. And as stewards, we must be concerned about the ability of our planet to perform its proper functions. But!!!!! you don't see me running to the local windfarm to build a windmill in my backyard to "do my part"
Lets be honest, is that data that were basing Global warming on, really that accurate? Well, I suppose according to scientific theory its pretty good. Oh yeah, I forgot that we have millions of years of data.... wait we dont? Oh man, then why have I been paying attention to the news so much? But honestly, scientists who try to publish data against global warming get publicity right?.... they dont? Oh crap.
My opinion... we do whats not only good for our planet, but also benefits us as stewards. If that be investing in alternative energy sources, then all guns ahead. But prudence must be used. We have too many fanatics that are running out there buying Hybrids because "its my responsibility" without checking the facts. For example, a hybrid can take over 6 years to realize any benefits through gas because of their increased price.... but wait they help the environment don't they.... huh, your telling me their batteries have been shown to be harmful? Oh man this all getting so confusing.
So what is your opinion on global warming and why?

DISGUSTING!

I am furious by a article that I just read. Its about a art student from Yale University who has intentionally miscarriaged multiple times in order to use the blood for a art project. Apparently over the last nine months she has been artificially inseminating herself with tadpoles from various donors while taking abortifacient drugs to induce miscarriages. She plans on using it all for an art exhibition on campus! Read the article here. MY HELL, this is ridiculous.

First off, why on earth is Yale University (one of our country's finest), allowing this to take place. The exhibition will show recorded videos of the miscarraiges and will be a cube wrapped in plastic sheeting. In between the layers of plastic sheeting will be the blood from her miscarriages mixed with vaseline to prevent it from going bad. Wonder how much that piece of art will go for?

It sickens me that we have become so caught up in being so-called "politically correct", that we have defiled the sacred and divine gifts from our Creator. The line must be drawn between freedom of expression and invasion of privacy. What do you think, where is the line? Should something like this be allowed? Why or Why not?

A call for Passion once more

I'm an American, true and blue. Those from other countries may not fully understand the pride of some Americans. They may view it as arrogance, and view things like the war in Iraq as proof. I recently read an article about the future movie that is currently in production called "W". A movie about our current President George W. Bush. The script was recently given to Bush biographers for review. The biographers stated that some parts were accurate but others were made up; for example, the script shows Bush discussing high policy in a casual frat house manner. You can read one article here, there are many others.

The current state of our society worries me. Too often we let the press control our lifes--letting the power of opinion also plague us. We easily take some opinions and news as hard truth, while we reject others as heresy. I fear Americans are losing to the desire to form their own opinion, rather use the ease of technology to echo what one has already said. We are all guilty of spending more time talking about what we think than actually thinking.

This country has never survived without passion and unity. It is the root of our accomplishments. It was our passion and thought that brought the colonies together to declare independence and proclaim their freedom. It was once again our passion and unity that created a constitution divinely inspired by God. And it was our passion and unity that forged our country through the trials of the world wars.

There has always been opposition to thought; opposition generates creativity and helps “think outside the box.” America has always been blessed with the diversity required to generate new ideas. However, when our opposition destroys our unity we should be concerned. I may be a republican and you may be a democrat, but we are both Americans. Too often our government passes some legislation that doesn’t effectively address the problem because two political parties opposition hindered their ability to work together.

The passion of America begins with the passion of its citizens. NOW is the time to let your voice be heard. What might happen if you do not? I doubt our country will collapse, or even lose its status of a large world player; however, we may lose some of the freedoms that are endowed to us by our creator and the protection of those rights by our government. Life will continue, but America was never meant for mediocrity.

Ok, so that’s my soap box, comment what you desire.

Consequences are essential after mistakes

I know its been ages since I have updated this blog. This last month has been kinda crazy at times, and I'm doing it now to get a release from a very busy week. I'll preface this post by telling all homeowners I do not target any of you who have sacrificed and worked hard for your home, I admire you. There are a number of things I have on my mind lately, though, this seems the easiest to talk about at the moment. Future posts will involve global warming and a broader view on the economy (boring you say, just look for my dry sarcasm I say).

If you haven't paid attention to the news for the last 6 months than maybe you've missed everything that is happening with the US housing market; step out of your cave. I've read some interesting articles lately about southern California and a 20% decrease in prices due to our current market; read for yourself here and here. This isn't completely tied to the United States either the UK is expected to face some pricing decreases also, read about it here. Though there is some good news, especially if you live in st. george which is one of the 30 or so U.S. cities that have seen increases in growth. Some economists have argued the housing market fiasco is the underlying cause to our inevitable recession. I agree in part, mainly because of the irresponsibility of those Americans and corporations that got themselves mixed up in the subprime crisis.

You may have heard about the countless number of losses large financial services firms have booked, and keep booking, for their valuation of their mortgages. Empires like Citibank have easily booked over $10 billion in losses due to their overly aggressive and greed driven business tactics. As the number of defaults on loans increases and the degree to which overly complex loans are increasingly being written off the books, Americans are screaming for help. What should be done?

In the words of Warren Buffett (who in my opinion is one of the smartest men alive), this is little but "poetic justice". Each candidate has their own stance on the situation, though, you might as well sum them up as spend alot of money or hold off. Both Obama and Clinton propose $30 billion in help to those who risk default on their mortgage; while Obama covers up the fact that its a bailout by using different terminology, Clinton calls it a bailout. John McCain proposes little if nothing be done and we let the market run its course--stating that he will talk with key advisers on further actions that need to be taken (remember fiscal policy is not his strong point). Wow, I'm sure glad that each one of those candidates in the running don't seem to be very well versed in fiscal policy. "Don't worry," the Obama fans will tell you, "he's charismatic and a true leader." I don't wish to pick on any one of the candidates stances only to say that none of them are great. Spending $30 billion to help people who deserve consequences for their stupid actions will merely commend people for making idiotic decisions (as the video at the top of the screen so excellently explains). Additionally, doing nothing at all is risky. While I am a big believer in the free market, there is a degree of government interaction that is healthy and needed.

Ben Bernanke (current fed chair) has aggressively cut interest rates in order to curb our economy's pain and encourage spending. However, is that really the right course of action? And further, should he have done it so drastically. Though I should not blame Bernanke, Alan Greenspan (while revered by many), helped our economy arrive at its overpriced position with his somewhat aggressive management through the Clinton and Bush years (though I have a great deal of respect for the man).

So what should be done? I want your opinion, what action do we take towards the current housing crisis

Candy Banned - A sign of the end of the world?

Just a quick note. Recently, a conneticut student was suspended for buying candy in school. Yes thats right for buying one of our world's most wonderful creations; CANDY! As an advocate for candy, I feel I must protest. Apparently, the school had banned candy from being sold in schools due to its "wellness" program. The student was offered a bag of skittles from another student, upon which he paid a reasonable fee for the bag of goodness. A teacher later caught the boy with candy in his pocket. The child is an honors student and lost his status of the vice-president along with bieng suspended for a period of 1 day.

This is retarded. I love candy, its fantastic. There is something fantastic about ripping open a package of your favorite sweets and relishing in their blessing. In fact, recently I was told that my favorite candy "Mamba" was the most environmentally unfriendly. Give me a break! Heck you want me to be more environmentally friendly? Flavor the wrappers, I'll eat those too.

A Real Life Experience

As a quick follow up to my last posting, I wanted to give you a taste of socialized medicine in action. Recently, Jessica's grandmother seriously injured her leg. As I understand it she was standing on her stool in her room trying to reach something and fell. As she fell her leg caught the edge of the dresser. You can tell by the picture what type of damage it did. Yep, that's her bone showing. It basically ripped half of her calf off. The ambulance was called and she was rushed to the hospital. However, the hospital didn't have the surgeon necessary so she was transferred to a different hospital. At that hospital she was stuck in a room with 5 other patients, and they "laid" a bandage over her wound. Wow, what a lovely recipe for staff infection, an open wound exposing your bone. The surgeon came later that day and said that they didn't need to operate until the next morning. By the next morning half of her skin had died and a skin graph was necessary to complete the surgery.

As stated previously, I believe we need healthcare reform, but I'm leary of socialized medicine (no offense to my english family, I love your candy selection and Simon Cowell does an excellent job at capitalizing on our stupidity). Sure, it would probably work as well as our current system, but its not a solution for improvement (my opinion). Suppose one day I happen to rip open a buttock, I don't want my coccyx showing for a day before I get stitched up.

Excuse me sir, do you have a permit for that fag?

So this one should be interesting. I'll start with my opinion--more government, less freedom. And that folks is why I don't like the idea of government run healthcare, and that is what this post will focus on.

So, by about this point your all wondering why on earth the title has "fag" in it. No, its not your favorite gay rights activist; it's the english term for cigarrette. Which brings us to the substance of the post. The BBC news recently published an article about a government health advisory body who would like to require a permit costing 10 pounds in order to purchase tobacco. Interesting proposal. You can read the article here.

While I am against smoking, I feel that people should have the right to ruin their lives however they please, as long as it doesn't hurt the public (the reason for not allowing smoking in certain public places). To force tobacco users to pay for a permit to buy tobacco is silly, or is it? My first impression of this news was bad but then I started to think about it. You've got roughly 60.7 million people living in england, with around 90% of the population using the National Health Service. So does their government have a right to tax them on their use of tobacco through a permit? Yes, heck the government is the one paying for the health problems that come from smoking why shouldn't they have the right.

And that is why I don't like the idea of government health care. Uncle Sam (for my english friends Uncle Sam is a national personification of the United States) is involved in my life quite enough, do I really want him telling me what I can and cant do regarding my health. I plan on eating loads of candy for the rest of my life, he has no right to disturb that. And if Joe Blow down the street wants to smoke it up, then let him deal with the consequences, not the government.

As a final note, I do believe we need healthcare reform, the government is spending too much already, and insurance companies are the rapists of the health world. However, I don't want Uncle Sam asking me to turn my head to the side and cough. What are your opinions? Should we have government run healthcare? Please don't be afraid to tell me I'm wrong.

America on Obama Viagra - if it lasts longer than four hours move to europe

What on earth is up with America's obsession with Barack Obama? Now I'm gonna try to be unbiased on this one, so opinion aside: What is so great about Barack? The news is covered with articles about the thousands of people that show up to his rallies, and his recent wins over the weekend make him the democratic frontrunner by delegate count. But whats so great about him? He is possibly the most liberal Senator in congress--maybe appealing for some. He has little experience. I hear people say that he is best person to bring the change badly needed to our country. How on earth did he become qualified to do that? So far during his 3 years in the Senate he has voted present more times than yes or no. His name is on no significant bill of legislation and his 1997 to 2004 term as a state legislator of Illinois produced nothing of significance - correct me if I'm wrong, I've read what he authored. However, he claims that he is the candidate for change. A leader is one who has proven himself to stand up in difficult times and rally America. Well, Obama certainly is rallying America, but has he really proven himself?

I find it amazing the way people are reacting to it. The pictures make the man look like a rock star the way people trample over each other to touch his hand. Recently, a senior advisor on McCain's campaign said that if Obama was the democratic nominee, he could not publicly help John McCain. He stated that he just liked Obama too much to run against him (he did note that he would still vote for McCain). Also, President's clintons old campaign manager, David Wilhelm, officially endorsed Barack Obama today. Who's next Huckabee (granted that will mean nothing)?

What are your thoughts? I want your opinion as to why this man is so hot?
